Nonexistent Countries and unusual texts: the journey to terrae incognitæ

15 November, 2010 - 12:00 - 13:30

Conference of the Food for thoughts Series at the Royal Military College (Kingston, ON).

You are cordially invited to attend the third conference of the Food for Thoughts: Works-in-Progress Noon Hour Series, organized by the Department of French Studies in order to disseminate the research of professors of literature. Audrey Camus will present a lecture entitled Nonexistent Countries and unusual texts: the journey to terrae incognitæ.
The meeting will take place Monday, November 15, 2010 at noon in Room M313B.

Summary — In entering a novel, it is as if entering a new world, a new country: it’s necessary to situate oneself, to orient oneself to one’s whereabouts. The novelist usually offers guidance to the reader, but what happens when this guidance is refused, depriving the reader of all reference points? This conference will try to relate such a journey to terrae incognitae.
